Job description

Role & responsibilities To safely operate, monitor, and maintain CAT 3516H Gas Engine Generator sets during assigned shift at IPGF Power Plant. Ensure maximum gen-set availability, compliance with OEM and IPGF SOP, and zero safety incidents while meeting plant generation targets Preferred candidate profile Gas Engine Generator Power Plant Operations: Conduct pre-start inspections on the CAT 3516H, including checks on lube oil, jacket water, gas fuel pressure, batteries, air filters, and the gas detection system. Carry out safe start-up, synchronization, loading, and shutdown procedures utilizing the EMCP 4.x control panel. Monitor generator set parameters such as kW, power factor, exhaust temperature, jacket water temperature, oil pressure, ignition coil status, and AFR valve position. Acknowledge and troubleshoot EMCP alarms using SPN/FMI codes; implement corrective measures or escalate as necessary. Address common faults associated with the 3516H, including Low Gas Pressure SD, Crank Terminate, Ignition Misfire, High JW Temperature, and CAN Communication Error. Perform operator-level maintenance tasks such as draining gas train filters, inspecting spark plugs, belts, breathers, and verifying sensor functionality. Assist with scheduled maintenance activities, including spark plug replacements, oil changes, valve lash adjustments, and aftercooler cleaning. Ensure adherence to Lockout/Tag out and Permit-to-Work procedures at IPGF. Uphold IPGF HSE regulations, gas safety protocols, hot work, and confined space permits. Engage in toolbox talks, mock drills, and incident investigations. Keep an accurate shift logbook & records, documenting run hours, kWh, gas consumption, alarms..
