Job description

Job Title – Interface Engineer – Polymer Facility Projects (Oman)

Location – Project site, Sultanate of Oman (site-based during tie-in and shutdown windows)

Reports To – Construction Manager (administratively); Engineering Manager (functionally)

Position Summary

This role sits on a Design, Build, Operate, Transfer (DBOT) polymer injection facility programme for a major Oman national oil company. The scope runs from concept and FEED through detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning, into the Initial Operation Period and steady-state Operate phase, and ultimately to Transfer to the client. Much of the work is executed on or adjacent to live producing fields, so interface management, brownfield tie-in planning and close coordination with the client's Operations, Engineering and HSE functions run through everything we do. Detailed design and physical construction are delivered through an EPC partner under our technical direction; Polymer Experts Oman remains fully accountable to the client for the outcome.

We are looking for an Interface Engineer to own every connection between our DBOT polymer injection facilities and the client's existing production, injection, utility and infrastructure systems. Interface work starts in the design office, but this role's centre of gravity is the site: tie-in points, shutdown work packs, isolations and day-to-day Permit to Work coordination with client Operations. All roles on this programme are offered on an expatriate package, single status, based in the Sultanate of Oman.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the Interface Register in line with the project tie-in and shutdown philosophy — every interface, meeting, action, owner and implementation date.

• Develop and execute shutdown work packs, isolation plans and job safety analyses in coordination with the client Operations.

• Act as day-to-day counterpart to client Operations on Permit to Work, isolation and Management of Change for any activity affecting existing assets.

• Coordinate interface scope and battery limits between the EPC contractor, vendors and other contractors or concurrent projects working the same field area.

• Work with the Engineering Manager to ensure design interface content is complete and correctly documented, and with the Construction Manager on execution readiness.

• Ensure interface welding, NDE and material traceability records meet the same standard as new-build scope.

• Notify delays, impediments, discrepancies and risks at interfaces within Contract notice periods, and keep interface risk visible in the project risk register.

• Support interface commissioning and system completion at tie-in points through to Completion and Take-Over.

• Maintain interface documentation and reporting, with all interface documents correctly marked and tracked in document control.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified and a Professionally Registered Engineer, with 10+ years' relevant experience including 5+ years in project and complex interface management and control.

• Direct experience managing tie-in, shutdown and isolation interfaces on live or brownfield oil and gas facilities.

• Demonstrated experience preparing and executing shutdown work packs, isolation plans and JSAs with an operator or asset team.

• Experience in a multi-contractor environment, coordinating interface scope and battery limits between an EPC contractor, vendors and other parties active in the same area.

• Working understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 as they apply to interface and tie-in work.

• Visible safety leadership, particularly around concurrent operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Produced water, injection or EOR / polymer facility project experience.

• Prior work within or alongside an Oman or GCC national oil company's Operations organisation, and familiarity with NOC permit to work systems, interface management plans and tie-in and shutdown philosophies.

• Arabic language skills, for working with client Operations personnel and contractors.

• A track record weighted towards site execution rather than design-office interface coordination.
