Our client, a construction and contracting company is seeking to hire a procurement Manager who will oversee and manage the procurement activities for construction projects. The role requires strategic planning, vendor relationship management, and ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality supply of materials and services essential for construction operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction procurement and a deep understanding of the local market dynamics.
Procurement Planning & Strategy:
Develop and implement procurement strategies for construction projects to ensure timely and cost-effective material acquisition.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to forecast project needs and plan procurement activities accordingly.
Supplier Management:
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers/vendors for construction materials, machinery, and services.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers, ensuring reliability and quality of supply.
Cost Control & Budget Management:
Monitor and manage procurement budgets for materials, services, and equipment.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or project timelines.
Ensure compliance with the company’s procurement policies and procedures.
Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination:
Oversee the efficient delivery of materials, equipment, and services to construction sites.
Coordinate with suppliers, transporters, and internal teams to ensure on-time and within-budget delivery of goods.
Quality Control & Compliance:
Ensure that all purchased items meet the required quality standards and comply with construction regulations.
Manage risk assessments, supplier audits, and material inspections.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and supplier communications.
Prepare procurement reports for senior management, highlighting cost savings, supplier performance, and project progress.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience: 12 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a managerial role, preferably in the construction or contracting industry.
Proven track record in managing procurement for large-scale construction projects.
Certifications: Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, SCPro) is an advantage.
