We're Hiring a Principal Security Advisor

Contract and location

Four-year consultancy contract with a Kuwait-based oil and gas company.

Initial two-year commitment in Kuwait - the successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Kuwait.

Option to extend annually up to a maximum four-year engagement.

Rate: £450 per day.

Accommodation provided.

Education

Relevant higher education in Security Risk Management, Risk Management, Crisis Management, Security Management, Critical Infrastructure Protection or a related discipline will also be considered.

Relevant professional security qualifications and certifications from internationally recognised bodies.

Experience

Minimum 15 years’ experience in the security field.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in security risk management advisory roles at enterprise or national critical infrastructure level.

Significant oil and gas industry experience, preferably within a refinery, petrochemical, petroleum processing, energy or similarly high-risk environment.

Demonstrable experience providing senior security consultancy and strategic advice to major oil and gas organisations.

Technical and professional knowledge

Security Risk Assessment and threat assessment.

Security strategy and security planning.

Critical infrastructure protection.

Facility Security Planning.

Enterprise security risk management.

Counter-terrorism and protective security.

Crisis management and emergency response planning.

Security management systems.

Security incident monitoring, classification and response.

Security policies, procedures and governance.

Security awareness and training.

API standards experience (desirable)

Demonstrable practical experience applying API Std 780 - Security Risk Assessment Methodology for the Petroleum and Petrochemical Industries (or equivalent).

Demonstrable practical experience applying API RP 781 - Facility Security Plan Methodology for the Oil and Natural Gas Industries (or equivalent).

Familiarity with other relevant standards applicable to oil and gas security will be advantageous.

Required ability

Conduct the required Security Risk Assessments.

Develop security strategies and Facility Security Plans.

Assess threats, vulnerabilities, existing security measures and residual risk.

Identify appropriate physical, procedural and organisational security controls.

Develop security policies, procedures and security management arrangements.

Provide senior security advice to the client.

Develop and deliver security training for company personnel.

Provide ongoing security risk and strategic consultancy.

Produce high-quality formal reports and recommendations.

Work directly with senior client representatives and technical/project stakeholders.

Operate effectively across multiple oil and gas facilities and project environments.

Work independently while leading and coordinating other security personnel.
